Recraft AI Image and Vector Design Review

Recraft is an AI design workspace for generating and editing raster images, illustrations, icons, logos, vectors, mockups and product visuals. It combines Recraft's own models with external image models, plus tools for background removal, upscaling, vector conversion and natural-language edits. This breadth is useful for design exploration, but different models can consume different credits, support different aspect ratios and follow separate provider paths.

Build a repeatable brand test before production

Create a compact brief containing the audience, intended channel, aspect ratio, required text, forbidden elements and a small approved color palette. Generate low-risk concepts first. Compare three outputs using the same checklist: correct spelling, logo geometry, brand colors, anatomy, object count, shadows, safe margins and readability at final size. Keep the original prompt and model name so the result can be reproduced.

For vectors, open the exported SVG in the actual editor and inspect paths, groups, fills, strokes, clipping masks and text outlines. “Editable vector” does not guarantee clean geometry or a production-ready logo. Test at favicon and print sizes, remove unnecessary nodes and run trademark checks before adopting a brand mark. For product images, compare shape, material, label and proportions with the real item; a polished mockup must not misrepresent what a buyer receives.

Natural-language editing can replace backgrounds, objects or details while retaining much of the composition. The official editing guide shows multiple integrated providers. Inspect untouched areas after every edit because faces, text, edges or proportions may still drift. Save versions instead of stacking irreversible changes.

Credits, visibility and commercial rights

Recraft offers free and paid credit plans, and each model or action may cost a different amount. Use the live pricing page for current allowances. The decisive legal boundary is the plan active when an asset is generated. According to the official rights guide, Free-plan images are public, remain Recraft's property and are not licensed for commercial use. Images made under a paid plan grant the user ownership and commercial rights and stay private, even after the subscription ends. Assets generated with Recraft may not be used to train AI systems regardless of plan.

Prompts, uploads and outputs are processed by Recraft and, for integrated external models, relevant service providers. Review the privacy policy, opt out of proprietary-model training if required, and avoid confidential or third-party material without permission. Rights to generated output do not clear trademarks, likenesses, copyrighted references or other outside claims.

Can I use Recraft images commercially?

Only images generated under an eligible paid plan receive commercial rights. Free-plan generations do not.

Does Recraft create real SVG vectors?

It offers SVG vector generation and editing, but inspect and clean the exported paths before production.
