What does Pancake actually do?

Pancake is an AI lead generation service for businesses that need to find and approach potential buyers. Give it your company website, describe the people you want to reach, and it helps turn that idea into a recurring prospecting workflow. It researches who fits, explains why, prepares a personal message and supports follow-up after you approve the lead.

Think of it as a research and outreach assistant for a founder, agency, consultant or B2B sales team. Its GTM Brain stores business context such as your ideal customer profile, competitors and writing style. A Play turns one prospecting idea into an ongoing search. You still choose the audience, check the evidence and decide whom to contact.

Find prospects when there is a reason to talk

A Play can look for companies that recently raised funding, are hiring for a particular role or use a specified technology. Other approaches include people engaging with a competitor or expert, reactions to a specific post, topic engagement, companies similar to existing customers, and filters for role, industry, size and location.

These signals help answer “why this person, and why now?” A web design agency could look for funded startups hiring a marketing leader, then check whether its offer fits their situation. This is an illustrative targeting idea, not a promised result. Pancake shows fit reasons and source information, with providers including Dealroom, TheirStack and Wappalyzer.

Run a small first Play

  1. Create an account and enter your business website so Pancake can build the Brain.
  2. Read the proposed customer profile and positioning. Correct mistakes before using that context for searches or messages.
  3. Describe the target buyer and a timely signal. Define the search schedule and intended volume rather than starting with an unrestricted audience.
  4. Review the plan and cost before running a search. In the official Claude workflow, the assistant asks for confirmation before spending credits.
  5. Inspect each lead's fit reason, review the message and approve only the prospects you intend to approach. Adding a lead to a sequence starts outreach from your account.
  6. Monitor replies and explain rejected matches. A reply stops the sequence; rejection feedback can produce Brain changes for you to accept or ignore.

This suits teams that can describe an offer and assess business fit. If you need guaranteed meetings, a fixed cost per acquired customer or a fully managed sales service, the public information does not establish those outcomes.

Use the same workspace from an AI client

Pancake has a browser app and an MCP connection for supported clients including Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT and Codex. The connection uses browser sign-in and workspace approval; it shares the same Brain, Plays, leads and credits as the app. Your own data-provider API subscriptions are not required. Follow the official connection guide for current client support and setup conditions.

Trial, monthly price and credit limits

Checked on October 15, 2026, the public USD price starts at $99 per workspace per month for 60,000 credits, with teammates included. Signup can begin without a card, but activating the 7-day, 15,000-credit trial requires a card. The selected paid plan starts afterward unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Search cost depends on the audience. The published 120–600 qualified leads per month at the base level is an estimate, not a fixed allowance or sales guarantee. Finding a work email costs 50 additional credits only when successful. Building Plays, messages and replies uses no credits. Searches pause when credits run out without automatic extra billing; unused credits roll over up to one month of credits.

One sending account is included; each additional sending account is $39 a month. Another company or brand needs a separate workspace plan. Check the current pricing and trial terms before subscribing; local currency, tax and availability conditions may differ.

Data access and practical boundaries

The privacy policy identifies Basalt AI Inc. as the operator and states that data is hosted on GCP in the United States. A connected AI client receives the workspace information needed for invoked tools and then processes it under its own provider policy. You can revoke the connection in Settings → Claude / Codex.

Review those conditions before connecting customer information. The service terms also restrict spam and unsolicited communications. A fit score or buying signal does not replace checking whether the recipient and proposed approach are appropriate.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pancake free?

It offers a limited trial, rather than a verified permanent free plan. Trial activation requires a card, and the chosen subscription starts after seven days unless cancelled in time.

Does it send outreach without approval?

The documented workflow requires lead approval first. You can inspect and edit drafts; adding an approved lead to a sequence initiates outreach from your own account.

How many leads do credits buy?

There is no universal conversion rate. Audience difficulty and email lookup affect consumption, so compare the actual search estimate with your budget before running it.
