What does Pilot5 Legal actually do?

Pilot5 Legal is an AI legal assistant for lawyers and legal teams working on US matters. In plain terms, it helps you understand a contract, check selected requirements in a separation agreement, retrieve statutory text and challenge a settlement position before you act. It is operated by ECOEMIT SOLUTIONS SARL. The legal workspace explicitly limits reviews to United States law; its output requires a qualified professional’s review.

From contract clauses to a reviewable agreement

Contract Understanding maps numbered clauses, keeps their original wording alongside the explanation and identifies skipped material. Statutory Review focuses on separation agreements: findings connect to selected statutory requirements, with an annotated Word agreement as an output. Neither a skipped section nor an absent warning should be treated as clearance.

Firm Playbook lets a team reuse approved positions in future reviews. A human must approve those positions, and the statutory baseline remains in place. This is useful when you want consistent firm preferences without confusing them with mandatory law.

Put a settlement position through opposing arguments

The settlement workflow uses five independent positions to test both sides and expose trade-offs. Models first analyze separately, then critique anonymously, revise and synthesize. The opposing view remains visible instead of disappearing into an average answer. Read the dissent and evidence conditions as well as the recommendation; model agreement is not proof that the position is legally correct.

Retrieve the law and check what the citation proves

Statutory Authority Lookup accepts up to 25 citations and retrieves the publisher’s text without generating substitute wording. Review the source and retrieval date; an unresolved citation stays unresolved. For cases, Pilot5 says its existence checks do not establish that a decision remains good law. Keep your citator and examine subsequent treatment separately.

A practical first matter

  1. Choose the workflow that matches the task: clause understanding, statutory review, authority lookup or settlement analysis.
  2. For deliberation, prepare the jurisdiction, procedural posture, settled facts and risk tolerance. Review and approve the brief developed with the assistant. For lookup, provide the citations you need to verify.
  3. Check the credit estimate before a paid run. Read the cited originals, unresolved points and counterarguments in the result.
  4. Record the professional review before using the output. The separate MCP guide documents PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD, CSV, JSON, HTML and XML uploads, plus PDF/JSON deliberation exports; these do not establish identical file support in every legal-console workflow.

Credit costs and paid capacity

Checked on 8 October 2026, the legal homepage lists USD monthly plans: Starter $29/30 credits, Pro $79/90, Expert $149/200, Master $299/450 and Business $999/1,750. All include the five legal workflows; unused subscription credits roll over for 12 months.

Contract understanding is listed at 0.2 credits, statutory review at 0.5 and settlement analysis at approximately 4. A run shows its estimate first and refunds unused reserved credits. Non-subscription packs start at $20 for 20 credits, valid 12 months. Check current pricing and billing options for checkout conditions and annual rates.

Check retention before sharing client material

The privacy policy says deliberation content is not used for model training, but default deliberation history is retained for two years and conversations for one year. Uploaded documents remain while the account is active unless deleted as described in the policy. Automatic pseudonymization reduces exposure; it does not guarantee removal of every identifier.

You retain rights to submitted content. Output use remains subject to lawful-use requirements and underlying provider terms in the terms of service. Confirm that your intended disclosure and use fit the matter’s requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Can I try it without subscribing?

The pricing page offers 10 signup credits without a card or subscription. The legal homepage labels authority lookup and firm playbook free. Credit-consuming analysis is a separate boundary; this is not unlimited free review.

Can it replace a lawyer or a citator?

No. Its legal reviews are scoped to US law and require professional review. Verifying that a case exists does not verify that it remains good law.

Does Zero Data Retention apply to every mode?

No. The policy offers optional ZDR for The Expert and The A-Team, not The Dream Team. Deliberation content is discarded at completion or within 24 hours; necessary operational and billing metadata remains.
