What does Daddy Issues actually do?

Daddy Issues is a family organizer app for dads who want to prepare for the coming week. It uses AI to combine family context, tasks and optional calendar events into a weekly briefing. The practical aim is to notice the preparation behind an event: a school trip may mean packing a snack, while a birthday may mean buying a present before the weekend.

This is a browser-based planning service for adult parents. The public interface offers English and German. Its focus is helping a dad take responsibility for upcoming jobs; support for shared household accounts or other interface languages was not verified.

Turn the week's events into things you can act on

The briefing highlights what is coming up, what deserves attention and what can be handled now. Recommendations use information such as children's ages, location, family circumstances, existing tasks and notes. That context helps distinguish a useful suggestion from a generic parenting checklist.

You can add context to an individual briefing card. According to the privacy policy, AI then regenerates that card, and some context may be retained to personalize future briefings. Keep notes relevant and review the revised suggestion. A recommendation is a starting point for your judgment, not evidence that a booking, purchase or family commitment has been completed.

How to plan your first week

  1. Open the site's start button and complete the onboarding. The public flow begins by asking what to call you; prepare the family details and routines that will make a briefing useful.
  2. Record the tasks you already know about. If useful, connect Google Calendar and select which calendars can inform the briefing.
  3. Read the weekly cards and check important dates, locations and suggested next steps against your actual arrangements.
  4. Add the relevant actions to your task list and schedule time for them. The official interface includes date and time-of-day choices and an option to add a task to Google Calendar.
  5. Check that the event appears at the intended time, then mark tasks complete as you finish them. Completion data also supports progress statistics and streaks.

The distinction between an event and its preparation matters: a Sunday celebration is one calendar entry; getting the present beforehand is a separate action you may want to schedule. Google access is optional and can be disconnected independently.

Family information and AI processing

This service stores account and planning data in the cloud. Its privacy and data-rights policy says the briefing model, Gemini, receives necessary family context, tasks and notes, plus upcoming event titles, dates and locations if you connect a calendar. It says your name and email are not sent to the model. This does not mean that all family information stays on your device.

The policy excludes children's names from the collected profile fields and says calendar data is not used to train general-purpose models. Account settings provide JSON export, editing and permanent account deletion. Disconnecting Google Calendar removes its stored tokens and connection record. For privacy questions, use the contact listed in that policy.

AI can miss context or provide outdated details. Check dates, prices, opening hours and local suggestions before acting. The service is useful for preparation and follow-through; its briefings are not professional medical or legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is Daddy Issues free?

As checked on 19 October 2026, the Product Hunt launch linked by the official site labels it Free. The public pages checked do not specify a paid tier or numeric AI allowance. That label should not be read as a guarantee of unlimited use or permanent pricing.

Does it work with Google Calendar?

Yes. With your permission, it reads upcoming events from selected Google calendars and can write to-dos back as calendar events. Confirm the selected calendars and scheduled time; this does not establish full synchronization with every calendar service.

How is it different from a regular family calendar?

A calendar records when something happens. Daddy Issues adds a weekly AI briefing that uses family context to suggest what may need preparing beforehand. You still review the suggestions and carry out the tasks yourself.
