What does Loqui actually do?

Loqui is an AI voice typing app downloaded from loquime.com. Instead of typing an email, chat reply or document, you hold a shortcut, speak and release it. The app turns your speech into edited text at the current cursor. It suits people who write throughout the day and want to capture thoughts without moving to a separate transcription window.

The website supplies the installer, pricing and account access; dictation runs through the installed desktop app. It requires an account and internet connection. Users must meet the terms' adult age requirement and review generated text before sending it.

Complete your first dictation

  1. Check the official download requirements. Mac needs Apple Silicon and macOS 26 or later; Windows needs a 64-bit machine running Windows 10 or later.
  2. Install Loqui and create your account. Enable microphone access and, on Mac, Accessibility permission so it can insert text.
  3. Open a message or document and place the cursor where you want the words. Hold fn on Mac or right Ctrl on Windows, speak, then release. Both shortcuts can be changed.
  4. Check names, amounts, dates and intended meaning before sending. For hands-free input, double tap the shortcut to keep the microphone open, then tap again to finish.

The Windows setup page currently says the installer is unsigned and may show SmartScreen. Check that installer information before downloading.

Turn spoken thoughts into usable writing

Loqui removes filler words, understands mid-sentence corrections and formats dates, amounts and lists. Its tone handling adapts writing to the destination: a chat message can stay conversational while an email becomes more formal. Gmail, Slack, Notion and VS Code are examples of the cursor-based workflow, rather than separate plugins you need to install.

Searchable local history keeps earlier dictations with audio, allowing another tone to be generated from the original recording. This is useful when your first version sounds too casual, but the final wording still needs your review.

Reuse terminology, translate and insert repeated text

The dictionary holds names, acronyms and specialist vocabulary. Loqui advertises speech support in more than 90 languages, selected manually or detected automatically; this does not establish equal accuracy in every language.

Choose a Spectro before speaking to translate, summarize or produce an email-shaped result. Seals store reusable text, such as a signature, and insert it by voice. These address different tasks: transforming a new dictation and recalling an existing passage.

Turn meetings into decisions you can check

Meeting capture separates microphone and system audio, distinguishes speakers and connects notes to supporting clips. The resulting record separates decisions, actions, risks and open questions for human approval. Loqui also describes alerts for contradictions with earlier project decisions and suggestions for a next agenda. Teams can share terminology through a glossary; recording into a shared space requires consent.

Free allowance and paid meeting hours

Checked October 28, 2026, the public USD pricing page lists a free weekly dictation allowance, formatted text, Tones, Spectros, local history and dictionary. The numeric word allowance is not disclosed there. Free accounts also receive one meeting hour once, without monthly renewal. Reaching the dictation limit pauses input until the next weekly reset or an upgrade.

Pro costs US$8/month with no weekly dictation quota and 3 meeting hours monthly. Pro + Meetings costs US$16/month with 30 hours monthly. Annual billing is US$80 or US$160 respectively; meeting balances still renew monthly. Paid accounts can add 10 hours for US$6: these do not expire, but using them requires an active paid plan. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period; checkout governs the final charge and any taxes.

Where your voice and text go

Loqui is a cloud-processing service. Audio passes through its servers to speech recognition providers; formatted text uses a configured AI route. Loqui says request content is discarded from its own server when processing ends, while external providers follow their own retention terms. Local history can retain audio.

Sync starts off. Enabling it can store profile and meeting or space text records in your account; audio tracks are not synced. Dictionary context may still be sent for recognition with sync off. Optional product improvement can retain donated text samples for up to 90 days. Account tools export data as JSON or delete the account, but account deletion does not erase local files. Read the data controls before handling sensitive material.

Frequently asked questions

Is Loqui free to keep using?

Yes, within the weekly dictation allowance. No card is needed to start. The free meeting hour is a one-time account balance.

Does it work offline or keep everything on my computer?

No. Speech and text leave the device for processing. Local history and optional account sync are separate storage choices.

Can I dictate directly into other apps?

Yes, Loqui inserts text at the focused cursor in apps where you can type. Check OS compatibility and permissions first; no per-app plugin is required.
