Actually Asked: AI FAQ Generator for Websites
An inline AI FAQ that answers from your content and grows with real visitor questions.

What does Actually Asked do, in plain English?
Actually Asked is an AI FAQ generator and website question-answering tool. Think of it as a help section inside your product or service page: visitors can read existing answers or type a question, and the service uses your website, help center and uploaded files to respond. It suits store owners and small teams repeatedly explaining delivery, returns, product details or subscription plans.
The result is an FAQ embedded in your page, with adjustable colours, spacing and corners. Visitors can also highlight a confusing sentence and ask about it. Businesses still need to provide accurate information and handle questions that require a person.
Build an FAQ from your existing answers
- Create an account, add your domain and supply the help pages or PDF and Word files you want used as sources. Choose material appropriate for visitor-facing answers: private uploaded files can also inform responses.
- Review the first FAQ entries against your actual product details and policies. Correct important wording and pin key answers.
- Copy the snippet containing your site key from Install and place it where the FAQ belongs. A shared layout can load the script once.
- Publish and open the page. The Install page turns green when a visitor browser first loads the widget.
- Test a known question, a different wording of it and a question absent from your sources. Check the answer and fallback before relying on it.
The website installation guide includes instructions for static pages, React and Next.js.
Let real questions improve the page
The service groups different phrasings of the same question. When three distinct visitors ask it within 30 days and your sources contain an answer, it automatically joins the FAQ. This is separate from suggestions produced when the site is read, which you can publish or dismiss. Edited entries stay edited, pinned items remain in place and removed entries are not republished.
The Monday email identifies frequently asked questions and information missing from your pages. Free includes a summary; Starter and above include the full gap report. Use these gaps to improve the underlying content. When a visitor leaves an email after an unanswered question, the Leads page keeps the question and source page so your team can reply.
Connect Shopify and your other tools
Shopify installation uses an app block in the theme editor. The app reads the catalogue, pages and policies, drafts shipping and returns entries, and can show product-specific questions before store-wide ones. Each Shopify store receives its own account and plan, billed through Shopify.
WordPress and WooCommerce can use a Custom HTML block. Lower WordPress.com plans may remove scripts, so check that your plan permits the embed. MCP is available on every Actually Asked plan and lets connected assistants manage FAQ content, questions and leads within the account's permissions. Consult the official integration guide for the assistant you use.
Free plan, paid limits and billing
Checked 19 October 2026, the public prices are in USD, with applicable tax added at checkout:
- Free: 50 AI answers per month, one site, up to 50 pages read and three uploaded files per site, two pinned entries and unlimited teammates.
- Starter: $12 monthly or $120 yearly; 500 answers shared across two sites, 150 pages and 50 files per site, FAQ groups and the full report.
- Growth: $39 monthly or $390 yearly; 1,500 answers across five sites, 300 pages per site and different FAQs on different pages.
- Premium: $99 monthly or $990 yearly; 4,000 answers, unlimited sites and 500 pages read per site.
Only newly generated AI answers consume the allowance. Existing FAQ matches, unanswered questions and contact-page pointers do not. At the limit, the FAQ stays visible and new questions go to the contact page until the first of the month; the service states there are no overage charges. Check the current plans before subscribing.
Questions before you install
The privacy policy says raw visitor questions and associated lead emails are deleted after 90 days; uploaded sources remain until deletion or account deletion. Connected apps can access the questions and emails the account can access. This makes source selection and assistant permissions part of setup, especially when documents contain information unsuitable for public answers.
Is Actually Asked free?
Yes. There is a continuing Free plan with 50 generated AI answers per month for one site. Higher volume and features such as FAQ groups or page-specific rules require the relevant paid tier.
What if my website has no answer?
The visitor is directed to your contact page and may leave an email for a reply. Your team can then add the verified answer to the FAQ or source page; the tool cannot supply missing business policy on your behalf.
Where do the answers come from?
From the website, help center and uploaded PDF or Word files you provide. Review those sources before installation and keep prices, policies and other changing information current.
